~ Sew-in-Love ~
Thank you for taking the time to read more about Sew in Love! I am Cindi Blazier, seamstress, cloth doll maker, and alternative menstrual product supporter! I have been sewing for many, many years and in addition to this website, I also have online pattern stores as well as my handmade dolls website http://doll-garden.com !
The well being of women is very important to me.....
I am a supporter of alternative menstrual products and have been actively helping women switch from disposable products. I have spoken with planned parenthood in my area about alternative menstrual products such as the different menstrual cups as well as cloth pads. I frequent online forums and help answer questions for those wanting to switch. I have introduced my teenage daughter to alternative menstrual solutions and I am offering custom cloth menstrual pads, for women who want to use alternative menstrual products but are not interested in using the menstrual cup.
making the switch to alternative menstrual products
I began using alternative menstrual products out of curiosity more than anything else. I stumbled upon menstrual cups while surfing the internet and was instantly fascinated (I purchased one right away). I then began researching alternative menstrual products and found that the cups had been around since the 1930's.....(I thought to myself, "Why hadn't I ever heard of them?") My fascination intensified and I wondered what else was available that I hadn't heard about. In my search I then found cloth menstrual pads.... I knew that in the past this is what women used, but what I had in mind was (old ripped up sheets/ rags)....anything but the beautifully designed pads that I found in my search! I was shocked (and amused) at how nice they were and decided to try cloth pads too. I was surprised to fall in love with them so quickly! After I used my first cloth pad, I swore I would never use a disposable pad again (they are soooo soft and breathe....and they are extremely absorbant!) ....... after I used the menstrual cup for the first time I swore I would never use another disposable tampon either! I feel so much better, cleaner, free'er, and more natural using alternative menstrual products! WE HAVE ALTERNATIVES!!! They are much more comfortable than disposable products. Using and caring for cloth pads and menstrual cups is much easier than I ever would have guessed. The cost savings over time is unbelievable and the positive impact on the environment makes me feel great! The way using menstrual alternatives has made me feel as a woman is why I am so adamant about spreading the word about them to other women as it really has made such an impact in my life.
Sew-in-Love pads: I have made several types of cloth menstrual pads. Like many women, I prefer the Base-pad + Liner-insert system instead of an all in one (AIO) system because it allows me to just change a liner-insert instead of the entire pad. I also like that I can adjust how many liners I am using to my flow. I like that I can (peek) at the layers easily to see if a change is necessary. I like that they dry faster than an (AIO) and I feel that they are cleaner too since the layers are separate. I have made some very nice All in Ones (AIO)...... but I just REALLLLY like the Base-pad + Liner- inserts sooooo much better! I also prefer them to be all cotton flannel without a PUL layer (because it is so much cooler and breathable). I have found that PUL is simply not needed when using the Base-pad + Liner-insert system although I do offer fleece backed Base-pads for those who prefer it....(On special orders I will be happy to add a nylon layer for more protection upon request too!)
Thank you for taking the time to enjoy my web-site......Please add it to your favorites and feel free to email me with any questions you may have! Blessings,

My personal menstrual product choices........secrets revealed: I 'think' I have tried everything now except for leaky blankets (I toss and turn so much that I don't think those would work for me).....I have tried 20 brands of cloth pads & pantyliners, all of the menstrual cups available, 2 brands of menstrual sponges, + converted sponges for menstrual use, and 3 types of padded panties........What do I use and when?........... Pads- I like them when I am at home and while sleeping.....(favorite pads? #1- Sew-in Love 10 inch flannel backed day pads and 10 inch pantyliners, #2- go with the flo 11 inch maxi ...I like these for overnights....I love the shape of them and they are great for my light flow and the hand-dyed velour is lovely, and finally #3-sckoon organic day pads are really well made and comfy.) Menstrual cups- I like these when I am away from home especially for long periods of time and when I travel...(I like using padded panties with these although not really necessary)..... (favorite cups? #1-Mooncup UK is my favorite because it is the most comfy because it is the shortest cup...#2-I also really like the Lunette for added assurance when really active, such as swimming) Menstrual sponges- I like these at home or while running errands when I don't feel like using pads (especially on my lightest days.......I use padded panties for backup with these) (favorite menstrual sponges? I like the silk sea sponges best...sea pearls by Jade & Pearl).......(favorite padded panties? I make my own with 1 layer of cotton terry + 1 layer of cotton flannel on top (I don't sell any of these)....I also like the REGULAR black lunapanties briefs
*** Since this site gets alot of traffic from women, seeking detailed information about alternative menstrual products, I have added a section for menstrual sponges and also the diaphragm shaped menstrual cup. I will be happy to add information about other alternative menstrual solutions to this site as I become aware of them and test them. If anyone knows of an alternative that I don't have listed, please email me about it! If there is a 'brand' that I haven't tested and you would like to send me a 'new sample to test' please let me know! sewinlove@doll-garden.com
